
President
Dr. Aristomenis I. Syngelakis is the President of the Council of European Chief Dental Officers for the period 1.1.2025 – 31.12.2026. From December 2020 to February 2025 he was the Chief Dental Officer of the Hellenic Republic. He was unanimously elected as President – Elect of CECDO in Montpellier, September 2022. In November 2024 participated in the first – ever WHO Global Oral health Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand.
He is a WHO special advisor – GDG on environmentally friendly and less invasive oral health care. He was the Organizer of the 28th Congress of the European Association of Dental Public Health (EADPH) in Crete (3-5 October 2024) and Co-President of the EADPH (1.1.2024-31.12.2024). In addition, he used to be Vice President of the European Dental Students (1995-1996) and President of the 2nd Congress of the European Dental Students (Athens, 2-6.10.1996).
He holds a Degree in Dentistry, a Degree in Political & Administration Sciences, a M.Sc. in Health Management, a M.Sc. in Community Dentistry (Dental Public Health), and a Ph.D. in Dental Public Health. He is a Scientific Collaborator at the School of Dentistry, European University Cyprus; teaching staff at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Athens; Scientific Collaborator at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Thessaly and teaching staff at the M.Sc. Program in Public Health at the same University. His research and academic fields include, among other, Dental Public Health, Health Systems and Oral Health Policy, Dental Ethics, History of Dentistry.
He has worked as a top management official in the Greek National Health System (President of the National Institute of Child Health, Vice Chair of the Attica Health Region, Vice President of National Centre of Emergency Care) as well as advisor to the Minister of Health. He currently works at the Ministry of Health, NSRF Executive Agency, Strategic and Operational Planning of EU co-funded health projects.
